More than 100 women from across the community came together at a recent health and wellbeing event in Woodchurch, marking a resounding success for local support services and organisers.

The event created by Healthier Neighbourhoods PCN, in collaboration with Healthier West Wirral PCN and Woodchurch Connect, offered a welcoming and inclusive space where attendees could access a wide range of free health checks, advice, and community resources. Services on offer included blood pressure checks, mental health support, menopause guidance, family support, advice for carers, fitness advice and relaxation taster sessions.

Local organisations played a key role in delivering the day, with community groups, family support services, and advice providers all on hand to offer guidance and build connections. Attendees also had the chance to meet social prescribers from across local primary care networks, helping them better understand how to access ongoing support tailored to their needs.

Woodchurch Connect and other community partners were on hand to share information about local initiatives, while Citizens Advice representatives provided practical support on everyday issues affecting residents.

A key highlight of the day was the engagement with Cheshire and Wirral Breast Screening, who reported a reassuring level of interest from attendees. Many women took the opportunity to have open conversations about breast health, with a number going on to book mammogram screening appointments during the event. This response clearly demonstrated both the ongoing need for accessible, community-based health outreach and the tangible benefits of bringing these services directly to local people.wellbeing-8

Alongside the services, the event fostered a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Many women took time to sit down with a coffee, chat, and connect with others in their community—something organisers say was just as important as the formal support on offer.

Feedback from attendees and partners has been overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the strong sense of connection throughout the day. One organiser noted that “the feeling of community was palpable,” reflecting the event’s success not just in delivering services, but in bringing people together. Feedback from one local resident reaffirmed how "useful and informative" the event had been, whilst others fedback about the "welcoming atmosphere" and how the event was "much needed".

The high turnout and level of engagement have reinforced the importance of accessible, community-based support, with hopes already building for similar events in the coming months.
